Which reminds me, ages ago I heard of a linguist who did their Master’s thesis on UK/US vocabulary in NZ English, e.g., shop vs store. Apparently, the only difference in usage came down to educational level. The higher-educated were more likely to use UK words and the lower-educated were more likely to use US words.
